2nd Annual Hwy 11 Records Northern Ontario Prize Package Announced
Hwy 11 Records (Atikokan) will be awarding their 2nd annual prize package to one of the CBC Searchlight Northern Ontario Region contestants. Hwy 11 Records consists of Rennie Frattura aka Reno Jack, a veteran Queen Street legend touring artist and producer, who has teamed up with Sunday wilde to work on a number of recordings and projects, most recently they were judges in the 32nd International Blues Challenge held in Memphis this past January, the release of “Lightning Fried” this past April and are in the mixing stages of Sunday wilde’s fifth album recorded in Clarksdale Mississippi with multiple grammy nominated producer Gary Vincent, who works with Charlie Musselwhite and Morgan Freeman.
The 2nd Annual Hwy 11 Records Most Original prize package is another project for the independent label. Last year the prize package was awarded to Giant Rabbits from Aundeck Omni Kaning, Ontario. Giant Rabbits gained further exposure from the prize and used their award to contact a number of industry representatives within the Musicians Atlas service. This year the award will be given to the most original in the UP North region of the CBC Searchlight contest, it will not be based on voting by CBC fans but awarded to the most artistic in delivery, instrumentation, dynamics, stage presence and lyrics.
Prizes valued at $450 will assist an artist to keep pursuing their musical endeavour, and so far include:

In addition to names, phone numbers, email & web addresses, entries include details such as styles of music, when to contact, submission policies, stage size, broadcast coverage, audience demographics, credits & other category specifics. Awarded to the top rated blues or roots artist will be a month rotation of airplay on Blues411. Blues411 is an online blog and radio station, and also give out their annual blues awards to many deserving artists worldwide.A cash prize of $100 sponsored by Hwy 11 RecordsA contestant must be registered in the CBC Searchlight contest to be eligible, and be registered in the Northern Ontario region. Hwy11 Records will be announcing their top ten, top five and then the winner by May 10th.
